Trick or Treat!

We had a fun Halloween week. Kenley's school (daycare) had a theme week...right up my school spirit ally!

Monday was pajama day.

Tuesday was black or orange day (our Ferris household is a little short on orange, so this was the best I could come up with.)

Thursday was hat day.

And we just stopped by school on Friday to see the other kids in their costumes (she only goes to school M, T & Th.)
Friday was costume day.

We took Kenley trick or treating for the first time. She didn't know what to think, but she did like looking at the lit pumpkins on people's porches.

My grandma also came for the weekend, so we got to spend some time as a group of four generations shopping...Grandma is teaching Kenley the shopping ropes!
Enough shopping for this girl!

Welcome November! 🍂

Halloween Week!

We're pretty excited for Halloween this year. We've never really been too "in" to this holiday, but this year seems different to me. Kenley "gets it" a little more (I realize we still have another year or two before she truly gets it, but things are definitely getting fun), plus we live in a new neighborhood with more kids around, so we even did a little outdoor decorating with orange lights and everything!

We carved pumpkins tonight. First time Kenley was able to participate...and  I think she enjoyed the squishy guts! She was a great little helper.
She's checking it out...not quite sure yet.

She's really into it now. She's scooping that thing out as if she worked for Ben & Jerry's! 😉

Helping mama get seeds out so we can bake them!

Pumpkin with her pumpkin.

She's very interested in how this thing lights up!

Our little family...pumpkin style. 🎃

What a great way to end our weekend. Bryan and I have carved pumpkins together for 13 years. It was fun to have Kenley join in now.

Friday will be our first time Trick or Treating...so I'm sure I can't hold back a blog post about that! So we'll talk soon!

Easy Peasy Pizza

I made little pizzas for dinner tonight. They weren't gourmet, and I'm definitely not the first person to make mini pizzas, but they were kind of delish!

They were super quick and easy. About 10 minutes of prep and 15 minutes in the oven.

My shopping list included:
•A sleeve of English muffins (I used sourdough)
•Small jar of pizza sauce
•Small bag of mozzarella cheese
•Small bag of cheddar cheese
•Turkey pepperoni
•Sliced olives
•A few spinach leaves
•About 4 tablespoons of butter (melted)

You can add any toppings you want, these are the ones we like (and anytime I can add spinach in and Kenley doesn't realize it is a win!)

1. Preheat the oven to 350* F.
2. Split open the English muffins on a cookie sheet.
3. Drizzle melted butter on the muffins.
4. Spoon sauce onto muffins.
5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese on muffins.
6. Add pepperoni, olives and spinach.
7. Put in the oven for 15 minutes at 350* F.

Finished product.

These little pizzas were a hit with Kenley and mama and daddy!
She still picked off the turkey pepperoni, but at least she kept the spinach!

I hope your family enjoys these pizzas as much as we did!

Fall is Here!

Bryan said it today. He said, "Fall is here!" as we left Greenbluff.

We picked out three bright and perfect orange pumpkins this morning. Standing in line in the cute, little Walter's Fruit Ranch store waiting to check out we grabbed some apple butter, pumpkin donuts and apple cider as well.

That place was packed! I'm sure thousands of eastern Washington families will visit Greenbluff this fall. It really is a cool place--they had pony rides, a petting zoo, a maze, apple orchard, pumpkins, tractor rides and more...and that was just one farm!

It was nice to get into the spirit of things, and as I'm cooking some white chicken chili in my crock pot, I can check a few things off of our fall "to-do" list!

I hope everyone gets a chance to get out to enjoy some fall events too!

I haven't blogged in a very long time!

I'm a blog failure. I haven't written in so many months...my daughter has reached milestones and I haven't been great at documenting them.

Did I fail?

Maybe at blogging, I failed...but not as "mama." I was enjoying those milestones with Kenley instead of spending time on my phone and computer.

So here's a little update on my 15 1/2 month old precious diva:

She's been walking for a month and a half really well. This has taken a lot of frustration away, I think. She can go places and do things she couldn't before.  She's gotten so fun and does something new every day.

We visited Disney World and the Caribbean in August! Her Aunt and Uncle got married on this trip. We had a blast.

In her first 14 months of life, she's visited three MLB parks: Petco Park in San Diego, Safeco Field in Seattle and Marlins Park in Miami. We have every confidence that she'll get all the MLB parks visited in her lifetime!

She eats. She eats a lot...like a big girl! Her favorite foods are bananas, my homemade Mac & Cheese with peas, bagels & cream cheese and grapes. She's working on using utensils.

For me, one of the most special milestones was Kenley riding for the first time. It was only a pony at the fair, but still very cool to hopefully pass on a love for horses that is generations old.

I think one thing we know for sure about her is that she's a bossy britches. She barks orders to us in her own little jargon. It's pretty cute--we try to keep "the little general" (as my dad calls her) in check.

Kenley goes to "school" at Bit of Home Daycare three times a week now and seems to grow and learn every day. Although she doesn't take her usual 3 hour nap there (sigh), she is very happy.

We continue to feel so blessed to have this little person in our lives. She's challenging, entertaining and full of love. We take it one day at a time and try to absorb the small things as well as appreciate her big milestones.

Hopefully my next post won't be 8 months from now. I'll try to blog a few more times!
